NH Hotel Group (www.nhhotelgroup.com) is a consolidated multinational operator known as one of the leading urban hotel companies in Europe and America and operates in more than 350 hotels. It offers experiences to meet the needs and desires of global travellers.

The Location

Hotel NH Venezia Santa Lucia is located in Venice, Italy and is housed in a solid SXIX building with an elegant lobby and garden and has 100 rooms spread over five floors. The establishment has undergone a deep renovation recently and offers guests the most advanced services.

The Challenge

NH Hotel Group offers all its guests a complimentary Wi-Fi service, and in the case of the Hotel Santa Lucía, this service face the challenge of a building with solid walls and radio signal transmission difficulties. After an in-depth analysis of the building's architecture and implementation possibilities, the system integrator, which has vast experience in deployments in the best-known hotel chains around the world, decided on a deployment of APs in each room, that would allow guests to enjoy the best service available. Deciding in agreement with the hotel chain the implementation of the latest Wi-Fi technology: the 802.11ax standard (Wi-Fi 6) in areas of high concurrency.

The Solution

EnGenius solution was proposed as the maximum benchmark for stability and robustness in high-concurrency locations.

The essential requirements proposed by NH Hotel Group in terms of service were:

·        Exceed any expectation in terms of Wi-Fi service with a relevant presence of international travellers.

·        The Wi-Fi signal must reach every corner of the hotel.

·        The signal must be consistent enough to offer video conferencing possibilities from anywhere in the hotel.

·        The guest network should be secure and isolated at the L2 level from other clients and internal networks.

·        All guests, even in high-concurrency common areas, should be able to view the contents of their broadcast platforms.

·        Remote network management, real-time visualization and usage statistics.

Advanced Service

Through the cloud management of the EnGenius Cloud solution, the integrator was able to provision in advance all the devices (APs and Switches) through their S/N, differentiating and configuring the different SSIDs even before the deployment of the equipment.

Through the control panel in EnGenius Cloud, the installation has a 24/7monitoring, being able to define and receive alerts based on different predefined parameters.

The system can determine through Client Time-Line the quality of the connection of each of its guests, even in roaming. Also allowing the monitoring of multiple installations from a mobile device.

Technological Accessibility

Nowadays, the valuation that the Wi-Fi service of a hotel establishment receives is prioritized over other traditional services such as breakfast or others.

The traveller expects immediate and quality accessibility to connectivity in their stays, both professionally and in tourist stays where they want to share content with their relatives.

Operational Accessibility

Through EnGenius Cloud, facilities are managed remotely from its headquarters, all NH Hotel Group hotels have a guest network service constantly monitored by the integrator.

EnGenius Cloud and its devices provide the integrator and the customer with the certainty that their customers will always have connectivity in each of the corners of the hotel.

In this case, NH Hotel Group, betting on service excellence, chose to introduce EnGenius ECW220 Wi-Fi 6 Access Points in areas with high customer density, offering unprecedented connection speed potential per customer up to now.

These Access Points would allow with TVs equipped with Wi-Fi connection the direct transmission of content from the client device to the TV.

The Equipment:

For the deployment in the NH Venezia Santa Lucia Hotel, Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 access points were used, these equipment with up to 1800Mbps of capacity allow customers to navigate at maximum speed or set video calls without interruptions.

Equipment with PoE af/at power allows maximum flexibility in installation.

All equipment is controlled from the Central Console of EnGenius Cloud, with no additional drivers installed in the Hotel required.
